Learning through play, the EYFS way

We follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with English and Arabic woven through every single day.

Seven areas of learning

The first three are the foundations everything else grows from. Teachers plan activities around each child’s interests and next steps.

Communication and language

Listening, talking, songs and stories in English and Arabic.

Physical development

Running, climbing, threading, cutting and holding a pencil.

Personal, social and emotional

Friendships, sharing, feelings and growing independence.

Literacy

A love of books, phonics and early mark-making.

Mathematics

Counting, shapes, patterns and measuring through play.

Understanding the world

Nature, people, places and celebrations like UAE National Day.

Expressive arts and design

Painting, music, dance, puppets and pretend play.

More than the basics

Arabic every day

Letters, words, songs and stories with our Arabic teachers.

Fortnightly themes

From farm animals to space, a new theme every two weeks keeps learning fresh.

Shows and celebrations

Puppet shows, theatre, music, birthdays and National Day celebrations.

Trips and visitors

Field trips and special visitors bring topics to life.

Ready for big school

By the time children leave our Butterflies class, they can recognise letters and sounds, count and compare, take turns, and look after their own things. We share progress with parents through the year so everyone knows what comes next.
